I initially connected with Ali via LinkedIn in 2011 as I wished to travel to Pakistan to visit textile producing villages. Right from the start Ali was instrumental in organising my visit as I wished and with his experience working with AHAN and craftspeople in remote areas of Pakistan, his university education as a designer, his textile knowledge and contacts in the field, everything fell into place. He met me at the airport in Karachi and facilitated the entire trip. As a lone travelling woman Ali helped organise my itinerary, accompanied me everywhere to keep me safe, organised a car and driver, translated and negotiated with government officials everywhere. My trip ran smoothly, was extremely successful and a life highlight for me.

Ali is a highly intelligent man with fine and well-developed design skills. He is also innovative in his thinking and constantly thinks outside the square to come up with solutions. I visited the office of AHAN in Karachi where he is held in high regard and I saw first hand the work he is involved in.
